It’s Your Job to Create a Healthy Lifestyle

As adults we are solely responsible for creating a healthy lifestyle, unless there is a disability that prevents us from doing so. When we were an infant, we had to rely completely on our parent to care of us. As we grew older, our parents taught us how to take care of ourselves. We had to learn things as simple as washing our hands and brushing and flossing our teeth. The older we became, the more we learned to care for ourselves.

The choices we make now are key to how well we age and how robust our health will be. No matter who you seek advice from, they cannot follow you home and make you do what is advised.

This is where the rubber meets the road. It is YOU who prys your behind off the couch to go exercise. It is YOU who backs away from the cookies at the market and steers the cart towards the produce aisle instead. Only YOU are capable of making the lifestyle changes that lead to a healthy life.

All those little seemingly insignificant daily choices add up to a lifestyle. What will your life look like?

We all have those days or seasons of life where we have trouble following a healthy lifestyle. The real test is do you self correct and get back on your path or just give up?

I don’t know about you, but I would be happy to reach 100 years old. However, I want to be a happy, functional centenarian, not a frail, weak one because I made poor choices about my health.

So each time you make a choice–what foods to eat, whether to exercise today, what supplements to take–think of it as an investment in your future. You are worth it. And only YOU can do it.
